Why you should build your product in public?

Earlier today I read very interesting article about why we should build your product in public? These strategy would shaping new perspective to create and build the product. The idea of being open to the community already spreading out since Free and Open Source software (F/OSS) exist.

Either Product hunt or other startup recently decide to publicly build their product. There’s a few similar cases using users as the key to provide feedback to refine the finalized design before putting it into code for instance;

Ryan Hoover lately redesigned his startup website Product Hunt posted transparently on medium. He believes feedback from real user could be saving his startup from wasted process and thinks why other founders out there should considering to do the same “ …There are legitimate reasons not to be this transparent but IMHO, the majority of startups, especially those building a community, have more to gain than lose… ”

The benefit of giving users sneak peak the product for the startup;
a. Increased engagement loyalty of ownership product.
b. Early user testing and validation before even shipping to market.
c. Giving user more attention to keep an eye out for the launching date of the product.

Closing thought: whether you’re gonna take a stab to begin build and asking feedback for your product in public or still using traditional way to do testing phase, it’s fine anyway. Try to come up with new way to build product with community on the side it’s not bad way too. The main essence here is the power of community would be strength your product manifesto.
